Capturing Mask ROMs

Abstract:

Chip firmware is sometimes hardcoded into semiconductor designs as 2D bit arrays ("mask ROM"). This talk describes how to extract high-quality microscope images of these bits as well as toolchains to post-process these images into usable binaries.
