Talk Title:

Building Whiteboxes: attacks and defenses

Abstract:

This webinar will showcase cryptographic whiteboxes, their uses and how they can be constructed, especially for complex cryptographic schemes. We will describe various attacks targeting whiteboxes, from code lifting to algebraic attacks for specific algorithms, and what can be done to defend against them.

Speaker Bio:

Matthieu Daumas(@plcp_) is a software engineer at Quarkslab. His main fields of interest are cryptography, hardcore C++ templatery and hacking / making stuff. He found himself involved in whiteboxes when he joined Quarkslab's Epona team working on software protections, doing research and development at the cross-roads of cryptography and compiler engineering.

In the past, he was involved in the development of privacy-enhancing technologies on top of Tor at EPFL's SPRING laboratory after completing his studies at the INP-ENSEEIHT engineering school.
